WVPY added to DC locals

We seem to have new local WVPY Ch.42. It isa PBS station. I wish we had MPT but this is nice. No word yet on WHAG 25 in Hagerstown.

WVPY = West Virginia Public Television.

Edit - my bad, Virginia Public Television.

Perhaps Maryland Public Television (MPT) will be added soon, since should just be a remap of the Baltimore PBS and not require any additional bandwidth.

No WVPY is a Front Royal VA based TV station. It has no connection to the state of West Virginia. It is a repeater of Staunton, VA based WVPT ---which stands for Virginia Public television. The W is s designation appled to almost all the TV ststions in the East. I do not know how the West Viriginia stations identify themselves. Front Royal is pretty far out but is still part of Virginia----which by the way extends further west than the state of West Virginia.

I am not sure if they can rebroadcast the Annapolis (Baltimore DMA station) or whether they need the actual repeater signal from the Frederick, MD (DC DMA) MPT station. Does anyone have an answer to that/
