WOW Good job Dish

My 622 died today and I had the same experience. I told them I tried everything and I know its dead. 5 minutes later I get a confirmation email that they are shipping me a new one. Hopefully it arrives before the weeekend.

E has issues with reman boxes.

OK E sp[ools some bad software that causes some boxes to flake, and subs call in droves and boxes get replaced sent to reman.

now in this flood of boxes who only didnt like the software, there are a percentage of real problems. its harder to weed them out, espically intermittent ones.....

and they go back out to haunt someone else.......

its not just E have had the same problem with my verizon cellphone. to get one good refurb it takes a minimum of 2 junk ones first

Sorry to disagree with the "Dish Hater", but I had Direct before Dish and had three of "THEIR" HD boxes take a dump. So don't slam Dish because you no longer subscribe. You'll see in time that who ever your with now, (which I'm sure in time you'll switch to someone else and bash them as well) that you'll get faulty equipment. It's just part of the industry, alot of equipment getting used and reused.

If it is a refurb, which I suspect that it may be, it looked new, I.E. no scratches or scuffs or anything.
I thought they put a new "cover" on them. When I had the 622, I went through 4-5 in a matter of a few years. Other than the first one, the rest were all refurbished. The first couple I looked at in good light and up close and there wasn't the slightest scratch. I really doubt they were used/old covers. I mean, I'm careful with my equipment, but I'll bet there's some scratches on the case.

I suppose he'd piss and moan if he only had an antenna on his roof!!

I worked for a mayor once who claimed people would complain if he gave out gold coins on the street corner. He was right, of course. Some would think they deserved two. Or, as the old Russian story goes:

Two peasants lived near each other, deep in a rural area. Both were farmers. One day, one of them got a cow, and had milk. The other peasant prayed and prayed. One day, his prayers were answered. The cow died.

Are they making you pay $15 to return your bad, leased, receiver?

Unfortunately, it's in the contracts if you don't have the Protection Plan. Still a lot cheaper than the plan. You don't have to pay the $15 if you ship it yourself. I have a FedEx account and it wouldn't be that much (also less chance it'll be damaged or lost).

Where in the contract? Never had to pay before this year.

I had never really thought of that but they do "refurb" them so I would figure that if the outside case is scratched they would replace it. At any rate, they seem to have did a good job on the ones that I have received.

My replacement refurb was obviously used before. Nothing major, but there are small scratches on the front and case.

It is in mine - doesn't specify $15, just states customer responsibility for return in DHPP section. While I question the financial responsibility for returning their equipment, it's not enough to get excited about and no worse than RMAing other products. In fact, my contract is surprisingly detailed and everything is spelled out clearly. My sale and install were through a local contractor and from what I've heard, they generally are more professional and detailed with the contracts than the Dish installers, likely for their own protection. Far from my experience previously with D* where everything was conjecture.

Maybe it's in the most recent contracts. I can't say I ever read mine in detail, but I don't think they had that in there 14 years ago. And even if they did, they never charged it.
