would you bite that offer?

Got D* now with HD Tivo. still 9 month (or 13 month, depending on which CSR I talk to!) left on my commitment. Gotta a call from Dish Saturday wanting me back. they offered me the 622 for $200 and $49.00 install fee with a dish 1000+ (even though I already have a 1000 up there) and installation for an HDTV and second sd tv. discount of $20/month for 10 months. Second dish installed for international channel for free; 3 months free of one premium channel. Of course, minimum bronze package (which doesn't have NG!!), 18 months commitment. So, for maybe $10 more/month I'd be getting a lot more HD than what I have now with D* plus an International channel.

Has anybody out there had a better offer to return to dish or do you think that's the best they can do right now to steal D* customers?

There are talks of D* having their new DVR soon. but even, if it comes out soon, they still won't have any more HD than E* for at least another year! And I'm all for "instant gratification"!:D

Are you sure you are getting a second receiver for the second HDTV and SDTV? How much are they charging you for that?

Be very careful with E* as if you call back even with it noted on your account they may tell you something else.

If I'm not mistaken, you should get the $49 install fee waived if you commit to 18 months. With the 622 you will only have one receiver, but it will control two rooms, one HDTV and one SD tv.

The standard new customer offer that they are giving you is good till Jan.2007, returning customers don't get the $49 refunded on first bill which is what you have quoted, be wary of $25 reconnect fee that DISH charges some returning customers.

If its for an owned 622, its a great deal. If its a leased one, its not worth it. Nobody should have to pay a dime for leased equipment. Which is one of the reasons I'm no longer a Dish customer.

to answer the comments:

NOt a second receiver; just the 622 that will be used for 2 tvs.
No mention of a $25.00 reconect fee. I shouldn't have to pay for it since THEY were the ones who called me! but you're right, they sometimes "forget" to tell you about this, until the bill comes

And it's a leased 622. I don't think they are/will be selling their 622 will they?

I still don't think you should have to pay the $49 install fee. I was a current customer and they did not charge me for it. I had the 622 install on Saturday. I paid the $199 upgrade fee, and got the Silver HD package.

but did you get the $20 discount for 10 months? I think they're waiving install for one dish but asking the fee for the second dish for the international channel. But, you're right, I should not have to pay ANY install fee!

I'm about to call and make them a counter offer: no install fee; premium channel for 3 months and internation channel for 3 months! :D

no I didn't get the $20 for 10 months since I was a current customer, but I get $10 for 10 months after filling out a redemption form. I would definately push for the no install fee.

man their customer service is so lame! I called to bargain and maybe take the offer and got a CSR who had no clue about anything and just kept saying "this offer is for new customers only". So, I asked to be transferred to a supervisor; she didn't! she transferred me somewhere that ended up hangin up on me! they just reminded me how bad their customer service was!!! I guess I need to take the offer when somebody actually calls me. If I try to call them back, they have no clue of what has been offered to me!

updated: Is there a different number I can call; like a customer retention number like they have for D*?

thanks

finalizing it now. after a third call to dish I got a good CSR/supervisor. Will only pay $199; instalation covered; free second dish (if necessary???) for international channel; 3 months of showtime for free; $20 rebate for 10 months.
I just couldn't resist!! Now, I gotta sell my HD TIVO or/and pay the fines for disconnecting after commitment is over!

:) i think you ended up with a very good deal! how much would you take for your hd/tivo? may be someone could take over your contract? like a relative or friend that you trust. that way your out of directv owing nothing. the other option is to get there cheapest service. its better than just giving them the same amount for nothing in return.

That's good to hear.... I was told I don't qualify for that deal also but I e-mailed ceo@echostar.com and got a return call from "Jenny". She said to call her back to see what can be worked out, but she's off Tues, Wed, and Thurs.

Not sure how much I should ask for the tivo. too bad it needs to be an active account with D* to work. otherwise I'dkeep it to record OTA. I really like it. I'm checking aroudn to see if anybody will want to take it over but that's another difficult option. Now, what would be really interesting (and perhaps a miracle??) would be for D* suddenly come up with tons of new HD channels within the next month and the new HD DVR free upgrade for current customers!! So, I better not check this forum for at least a year, since I'm now commited to Dish for 18 months!:D

Cool. If you got someone's above a CSR you should go for it. it seems to me that it's a matter of asking it over and over, until you get someone who will give you that deal. The second time I call, I got just a very slow CSR who just kept going back and forth asking his "supervisor" and, in the end, he still wanted me to pay around $320 for the whole deal. I just politely said, no thanks and hang up. Last night's call took about 1 hour though but the guy was very nice. Now, I hope they did take care of everything as, it has happened in the past that they promised one thing and once the account is activated I get charged for things I wasn't supposed to be charged! Only time will tell...

You may have gotten Dish India. Whenever I have been transferred after speaking with someone with a heavy accent, I have also been disconnected.

You did the right thing -- play CSR roulette!

You may have been connected to Dish India. Whenever I am transferred by someone with a heavy accent, I am disconnected. It's like they can only answer simple questions and are probably receiving calls in their home and can't transfer calls, so they just disconnect you.

You did what you have to do -- play CSR roulette!

Hee hee!! Yes, I did get Dish India the first time (kinda bad of me to agree with you on that since I'm a foreigner myself, although not from India;) ) Second time I got Dish IQ80. The guy had no clue of what he was supposed to do! Third time the CSR was quite smart: he transferred me right away to an account specialist or whatever the heck they call it.
