The coolest feature of the Hopper, PTAT, wouldn't apply to a 119W-only setup. The search feature wouldn't be particularly useful either if you have a US subscription as much of the content is going to be from 110W and 129W.The idea of upgrading from the VIP 722k is to be able to record more than two programs while watching a different channel. Everything I've read about the Hopper with Joey makes it appear to be a good choice. Plus some of the other features of the Hopper sound good.
I'm pretty sure that for PTAT to work, you must have all your big networks in HD. I'm assuming that this is not the case for you. The LA HD big four are on 129W TP 4.Harshness, why would the PTAT not work with Sat 119? All networks are on SAT 119.
I suspected as much. This just killed the idea of upgrading to the Hopper.
