Zarlink finally brought it to the market!

The new tuner includes a high-performance LNA, which means GOODBYE to RF circuitry. This could lower prices by a little too!

Exciting!!!

If this means faster blind scanning and less heat generation; then I want it in pci cards immediately! Only a matter of time before this market really takes off(dishnetwork pirates
will soon be fta converts) and the receivers become more robust. The demand is there.
Nice find by the way!

Read up on zarlink's website. This truly looks very promising for all sorts of uses:

"The ZL10039 device is a single-chip wideband direct conversion tuner for 1 – 45 MSps (megasymbols per second) DVB-S (Digital Video Broadcast-Satellite), DSS (Digital Satellite System), and 8PSK (8-phase shift keying) receiver systems....

Zarlink’s ZLE10541 reference design, combining the ZL10039 tuner with the ZL10313 demodulator, offers key features including high speed “blind scan” – an on-chip hard-wired controller that enables the chip to achieve ultra-fast channel scanning capability with little intervention from an external processor. The demodulator provides strong performance across the whole satellite 1 – 45 MSps DVB-S symbol rate range....

Typical Applications

* DVB-S Free-to-Air Satellite receiver systems
* 8PSK Satellite Receiver Systems"

CAN'T WAIT FOR THEIR CHIPSETS TO BE INCORPORATED INTO STBS.
NOW IN PRODUCTION ACCORDING TO THEIR PRESS RELEASES.
