Hi Guys:

I am planning to carve a hole in the forest for a Directv 5 LNB Slimline dish. My Zip is 83821.

The local installer told me that he needs a clear line of sight to multiple satellites, and that this needs a hole in the sky with azimuth from 130 degrees to 170 degrees (from true N) and an elevation of 30 degrees from horizontal. He won't come back unless I have made this hole.

The Directv service tech I spoke to a few minutes ago tells me that the azimuth should be 161 degrees centered in a 30 degree sweep, and that the elevation is 50 degrees. This makes a huge difference in the amount of tree felling, and to the trees that have already been trimmed for a 30 degree elevation los.

Is there a look-up table by Zip that I should be looking at, or can someone please give me the correct requirement?

Many thanks

When using that website, I'd also select the sats individually to get the elevation differences, because each sat has a slightly different elevation.

Of course, if you make the window large enough. :D
