William Clay Ford's son wants Millen gone

Detroit Lions fans want William Clay Ford and family gone...the city is being held hostage by 40+ years of inept ownership. If you ask my opinion, they should toss William Clay Ford Jr. in jail next to Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick!

Who would the find to run the team ??? I too think the Ford family should sell it, but I don't see that happening .... Who would want it ?

They should all go, from Owner on down and bring in Mike Illich, he seams to know how to handle pro sports in Detroit , at least he knows how to stay out of the way and finds really good GM's to do thier job too.

Jimbo, my argument is their has been no Captain steeriing the Lions franchise...iit is being guided by a ship of fools. I can't believe I am saying this, but bring back Wayne Fontes...at least his teams finished near .500

I personally would like to see Millen step down and bring in someone that knows what they are doing and not just a sports analyst. The person that is brought in should also have all say in the team and they only thing the Fords are responsible for is to open up their wallets and let some of the moths out of it.

I thought they should have went after Bill Parcell's as GM a few years back when they were making a coaching change, don't remember which coach it was, regardless, Millen gone and a guy that actually knows FOOTBALL would be nice.

I liked Millen when he was with CBS/Fox as an anaylist but the very fact he's still with the Lions after all these years is completely mind blowing.

i can't believe it took this long for someone in the lion's organization to say this. millen should've been fired a long time ago.

Most people like him as an analyst with Fox but he does not know how to run a organization.

I would have been very happy with Parcells. Not sure if he ever would have gone there but it would have been nice.

I find it very similar to the Dolans and how they handle VOOM. Why be on the so-called 'Board of Directors' of a team when you are as limp when it comes to team decisions as a corpse at Bally's fitness?

The Fords are a different breed. OLD money and values. No imagination. The rest of us are 2nd class citizens. That's the reason Monaghan and Illitch did well. Self made millionaires.

As strange as this sounds.....What Ford Jr says really means nothing, as sad as it is.

Ford Senior is the owner and he makes ALL the calls. As his son said in the interview he has no say. All of us in the michigan area know that when it comes to football, ford is loyal to the max. All his hires have stayed way longer then they should have.

I have no reason to believe that Millen will be gone anytime soon....Why would he resgin, where else is he going to make 5 Mill a year and have your boss have no problems with you eben though you are like 30 and 80 something. I have to real attachment to the team and I am only in my 30's if they win that is find but, I no longer let losses stay with me.....One big reason I have Sunday Ticket.

Bill Davidson, originally wanted to buy the Lions, he settled on the Pistons. Seriously, there would be no shortage of suitors.

Who would have thought that the Wayne Fontes years would be the glory days of my lifetime?

The rumor around here is that Parcells was interviewed, but turned down the job, because Ford wouldn't give him total control over player decisions.

All too true. I still believe that Ford fancies himself as an NFL GM, and hires yes men. How else do you explain Russ Thomas? That guy was here forever, miring the team in mediocrity.

I guess losing to the 49ers was the final straw. !protest

Don't count on it. If there is a change, (I'm not holding my breath), it won't be till the end of the season. Keep in mind, the more things change, the more they stay the same. We've changed everybody here, and yet the team still looks the same, no matter whom the GM, coach, and players are. How does that happen?

I guess the bottom line is that it will not change until Ford Sr. steps down or sells the team. If he steps down, let me remind you that it was Jr. who pressured his dad into hiring Millen!

I'm betting Jr. is taken to the "woodshed" before Millen is. That's the "old Money" way.

By the way, I don't think Monaghan did such a great job with the Tigers. As a matter of fact, when he bought the team it was on the verge of winning it all. All the pieces were accumulated by the previous regime. Monaghan then preceeded to tear the team up, and even hired Bo Schembechler as the team president. (Good move there, lets hire a football coach to run a MLB team.).

Good points, Kind of lost touch when I moved in 89. There are cities that would want a Pro football team if available Portland or Las Vegas come to mine.

Now there is an idea. The Cardinals moved, and they (St. Louis) got the Rams, who were good for a while. The Lions would be better off if they could start all over, like an expansion team. It couldn't be any worse than this, could it?
