i was in the garage making the new mount for the patriot dish and got side tracked with this feed horn. can you guys let me know if the attached lnb to the modified feedhorn would be worth a shot? i am trying to use what i already have. i received the coolsat from the ebay purchase and spent most of the day fixing / firmware back to the original settings (another patcheye bit the dust:) now that it will be raining here until the weekend i'd figure i would ask if the feedhorn thing will possibly work. if it wont then i will be getting the one from ws int. thanks for any info on this.

be nice if i attached the pic:)

Sure that will work. It looks like a single polarity. You would have to rotate the LNB 90 deg to select the other polarity as it is not voltage switched. From some other posts, it would be worthwhile to try that one pointed at RTN, as some other members with the NJR brand LNB's are receiving RTN without the issues others are having. Give it a try... it's a hobby and that is the fun of it. Commercial LNB's may not have the ratings that the home/hobby ones claim to have, but can outperform them in some cases. If you don't end up using it, I sure would like to give it a try.......but I would doubt you would give it up.

thank you Larry1. i am hoping for good weather this weekend to try it out. if i dont have the luck (or skills) to get it working your more than welcome to have it. i'll let you know what happens.

better choice of LNB:

Here is a picture one of members posted a while back.
It shows the stock feedhorn removed from a Dish Network FSS LNB, and replaced by the feedhorn of an oval Primestar dish.
(Standard 10750 LO, but bandstacked)
Since the dish keeps its matching feedhorn, most any bolt-compatible LNB can be tested.

Advantages: does both polarities, easy to obtain (just ask), bolt-on compatible (likely).
Disadvantages: bandstacked, may not fit (see above), you don't have one.

edit: Second picture added.
Same feedhorn bolted to a regular voltage select LNB.

Advantage: does both polarities, easy to obtain, bolt-on compatible (same as above), not bandstacked if you care. :)
Disadvantages: may not fit (see above), you don't have one.
