Will receiver from eBay work on my system?

Hi:

I subscribe to DISH Network via my cable company. They require I rent a DISH Network 351 receiver from them. Will a 311 model from eBay work? Hotwired (cable company) says it is their policy to only rent to subscribers.

Not for your setup; you'll need QAM type (3750,351,381); as to CableCo rules - I would call Dish and try to add to your account, if you have additional cable connection and right QAM receiver.

Thier contract with DISH allowing reuse of the DISH delivered programming probably protects them from you getting equipment from any other source.
