Will I be charged for defective receiver?

I can't imagine they would require any additional commitment period for replacing their own equipment that goes bad.
It happens. The customer must be vigilant on two fronts:

1. That they didn't "lose" the defective box.

2. That their commitment didn't get extended/renewed.
