Unless your tripod has a 2" Outside Diameter pipe you are out of luck. Slimline has to have a bigger pipe which won't fit in most normal tripods.

it's only a 1 and half pipe.do the dtv installers usly carry 2 in tripod poles with them?

If they are doing a professional install of a 5 LNB dish, they have everything they need to install it with the tripod. They unfortunately may not be able to use your existing tripod.

I've actually placed a 2" pipe in a standard tripod for a HD install (with supervisor approval and the understanding that if it didn't work we'd have to use a non-pen roof mount)

The pole barely fit, and I had to use self tapping screws to hold it into place. A month later and I haven't been called back yet!
