Will Dish Remote Access work on 211k?

I have a 722 receiver which I am swapping for a 211k. If I pay the $ to activate the DVR functionality in the 211k, and hook up an external HD to it... will this receiver become available via Dish Remote Access? My 722 is currently accessible (using a Sling Link Turbo).

Thanks.

I don't think so. I have a 211k and I don't see a place in the menu to activate the 211 for remote web access , called web activation.

Do you have an external HD attached and is your 211 "DVR enabled"? If so, I believe it effectively becomes a 612...with perhaps the lack of "Dish Remote Access" functionality?

Not exactly. 612 has two tuners. 211 just one.

I have an external hard drive and it is enabled to be a dvr. But no remote access.

Ah, good point... no watching one thing while recording another (OTA excluded) with the 211.

Another possible difference...it appears the 612 is a UHF-based system while the 211 is an IR?

Hmm, I wonder if they will allow external hard drives to be added to the 512's if they will have usb 2.0 support which is what allows it to work with the 622/722/211/411.

You can watch one recorded program while recording another. It's like my old Tivo Series 1 with the addition of an over the air tuner. This allows you to record two programs simultaneously as long as one of this is off the air.

Decided to go with the 612 instead of the 211k...thanks to all for the information in this thread.

211K has OTA and SAT tuners, so you can watch one thing while recording another or record two events simultaneously as long as they are from different sources (SAT/OTA).

Hence my comment about "OTA sources excluded" (or vice-versa). For me it boiled down to the 612 being just $3/month more than the 211k (I say "just" as my 722 would be $10 more) and for that $3 I get:

1) On-board DVR
2) Ability to activate EHD and share with my primary 722
3) UHF for other rooms
4) Dish Remote Access
