Anyone know if Dish will ever offer NFL Networks. If so, how close are they? If Not, has Charlie ever spoken about why not?

D* has an exclusive contract with the NFL for Sunday ticket. What good is the NFL networkl without Sunday Ticket.

It's lots of good! NFL network has nothing to do with Sunday ticket. during the season, NFL network shows an HD game of the week reply of the week, along with the library of films from NFL Films. Many cable systems that don't have Sunday Ticket are picking up NFL Network. Sunday Ticket is 17 Sundays a year, NFL Network is 24/7 football. And we need it on DISH!

I am a die hard football fan, and I would love a channel that would be dedicated to NFL Football 24/7.
And this channel is not exclusive to D* b/c other company's provide it. On top of that, I have a subscription to the NFL ticket and would think that the NFL Network would be a great compliment to enjoying the NFL ticket more.
However, I do not want to leave Dish to have to get the NFL Network

You would think that by now, DirecTV would have nabbed up EVERYBODY that was really interested in NFLST. How many new subscribers can be brought over to satellite to get NFLST? I don't think Charlie could ever bring in enough new and exsiting subs to justify the kinds of money the NFL demands for this product.
But let me ask this question. Why should the NFLST be an exclusive product. Would it not benefit the NFL to offer the NFLST to as many providers that want it.
I mean why settle for 1 million, when you can get 2 million for the same effort.
I realize that it was probably D* that asked NFL to make it exclusive to enablle them to get subs that no one else could get, but NFL was and is in the driver's seat.
As for getting new subs, I would think that there are still new subs out there to be had. There might be those who could not have afforded the NFLST in prior years, but more so those young folks that are finally growing up and moving out of mom and dad's house and are now on their own

D* paid a premium to maintain that it gets exclusive DBS rights. The original contract NFL Sunday Ticket was shopped to all & D* stepped up to the plate as an exclusive. Renewal rights gave D* the right to maintain its exclusivity for a period of time at renewal and they have did so. I don't believe the next renewal period has that right. So that would be the first time that E* even has the ability to bid on the package.
I'm sure Charlie believes it is not compelling TV and no one wants it. Much like Ovation, GoodLife, Trio, & PBS Kids.
In the last deal DTV bought an exclusive for three years (last seaon was the first one) after that there is a two year window in which the NFL has the right to offer it to cable companies but not to another DBS provider.

Direct is owned by Hughes, who owns Fox, who has NFL rights.... until another channel has the rights, Direct will always have the package... sad, cause I like the way Fox handles the programming. Helps get the gf interested when I can explain things revolving the yellow line.
Hughes does not own Fox. GM owns Hughes. Rupert Murdoch owns Newscorp which owns FOX and now owns majority interest in DirecTV. I am sure he would love to keep the NFL locked up, but the NFLST really goes for a HUGE premium that I do not think Rupe will go for again.
