so its a serial cable? How do you know the receiver takes a null modem cable? They are two different things. I know some of my receivers take a null modem cable and some do not

do a search to see the difference and how to change it...

Hey Tim, determine what cable your box takes strait or null ? When you do if needed you can buy a null modem adapter from Rat Shack Part # 26-264B Female DB9 to Male DB9 its Shielded and Grounded and will turn a null cable to strait or strait cable to null. Its got a pin out diagram on the back of package for reference in case you want to go nuts with a soldering iron on another set up down the road. Hope this helps................Fox
