Will a new dish work on

Will a new SWM 3 or SWM 5 dish work on a older system (D10-300) just to get directv without hd ?

really so id I hook up the swm unit I have to use a new receiver? I would of thought as long as the power is fed tot he swm unit and it was getting sat 101 it wold work..

The D10 recvr powers the LNB on the dish set up, while the SWM has a Power Inserter to power the LNB, now you Don't need a SWM unless it's something you want. It basically makes life easier with only needing 1 line to each dvr recvr.

So will a swm dish work with a NON DVR ? just HD receiver like a H25?

Sure, as long as it's one of the compatible models. Virtually all H and HR models are swm compatible.

With the exception of the h(r)10. A better comparison is all ka compatible boxes are swm capable. However the h20 is not mrv compatible and the HR20-100 requires a special setup. For standard boxes only the d12 is swm capable.

That's why I said virtually. The HR10 and HR20-100 aren't common anymore.
