I haven't seen any post recently regarding a package deal for the Wildblue satellite internet with Dish accounts other than a vague reference to getting them on the same bill. The info on all the dealer websites indicate the same "deals"...e.g. free installation whether or not you have a Dish Network account. There was an implied suggestion several Tech Chats ago that there would be a package discount. Anyone knows what may be in the offering?

I know that there is a different forum that is suppose to address these sort of issues, but it is relative void of activity.

WildBlue has been having some over saturation of their system from what I have heard. They may be trying to resolve that before they push more subscribers.

If Wildblue is offered I suggest that you head over to:

in order to learn about the many challenges involved with satellite internet. It is not as simple as satellite TV.

I had Hughsnet (Direcway) for 4 years. In my opinion, satellite internet should be considered only as your last option over slow dial up. Almost every other solution WISP, cable, DSL is superior.

I recently spoke with DISH CS who said that the rollout of Wildblue is nowhere near ready. Even though the DISH site inplies that Wildblue is immediatley available - I was told that it may be February or later for many parts of the US to sign up. Also it is doubtful whether there will be any discounts by batching this service with the regular DISH package.

Is Dish having a price increase?
