with the subscription analogs officially done, I think within 5 years analog transmissions will be very rare or gone entirely.
The holdout TV stations wll get their wild feeds digitally (no more need for the last one or two syndicators that currently use analog to continue using analog when every TV station has a digital receiver and some experience on how to use it).
Commercial uplinkers or downlinkers trying to ID satellites can lock a digital signal to positively confirm a satellite (no need for an analog ID slate),
Religious broadcasters will launch their services in HD to give God a clearer picture, and shopping networks will go digital too to have HD feeds of their services to hook the housewives to buy more C & T.
