Why no screen saver?

This sounded soooo much like digital vs. analog front projectors, then it sounded sooooo much like DLP vs.LCD vs. LCoS front projectors.

My back says LCDs are better because you don't have the extra layer of glass to contain the plasma. My power bill says edge lit LCDs are better because the meter on the outside of the house spins slower. :D

I get the PQ stuff, but 99% of the viewers don't give a (insert any of several expletives higher) about PQ. The few that care about ultimate PQ will have a dark room with something along the lines of a JVC D'ILA front projector which (btw) smokes plasmas ;)

My back is fine, thats what I have relatives for ;)

When I get the room, ill have a projector, dont worry. Im tired of all you projector guys in the AV forum here bragging about them and me and my lowly plasma.

Or maybe I'm not such a damn nerd about it? So I should throw out my four LCDs and replace them with plasmas since there's SUCH a huge difference? Oh that right the ambient room light would destroy it anyway. I've said this going on three times now, I have both, and it's not as dramatic as the numbers make it seem. Just depends on the situation. Telling me I have bad eyes certainly isn't proving your "point." PS I just went to the eye doc last week, he says my vision is great (with correction.)

So being right makes me a nerd? What you are telling me in the first remark, is sure you dont take it as seriously as I do. That tells me you're "they arent that different" comes from someone isnt that concerned about it, doesnt make the numbers less true, and also doesnt make the real world performance advantages less.

AV is hobby that I enjoy and I take it seriously, so your minor difference is most likely a little larger to me. There is a reason most of your calibrators recommend plasma and they win most of the awards...

Im gonna go ahead and say it, we obviously have differing opinions, and have derailed this thread (Im not sure who started that :) ), so instead of bickering like old women (no offense to the bickering old women around here), its probably most mature to just disgree and move on :). So no hard feelings on my part.

This isnt AVS.

I've already told you I have plasma and LCD about four times now. I'm just saying it's far from the night and day difference that you're making it out to be. They both have their advantages and disadvantages.

LOL!

My 36" HD CRT looks great, HD or SD. No viewing angle problems, no heat problems, no burn-in problems. And it'll probably outlast any LCD or plasma 3x over, for 1/3 the price (at the time it was purchased).

:D

I also have a 36" CRT (but SD) in perfect condition. But I'd probably give it away for free if someone would just cart it/ forklift it away!

Something just occured to me. My pausing issue is when someone calls my wife and want to talk 30 mins, not live tv. My simple solution is to stop the show, and then just put the Hopper in stand by. The window moves around in the standby screen and I can just resume the DVR when she is done.

I know neither is ideal to a screen saver, but at least there are options.

Or press View Live TV and mute :) .

Does Autohop require PTAT enabled?
