It would have to be grounded to the disconnect not directly grounded to you ac/hvac unit. To be perfectly frank about whether it is better for a DNS guy or a local guy coming out to take care of your system, just depends you have bad apples in both crowds, but hopefully with the quality push they are doing now, it will get rid of most of the bad apples wherever they may be
