I am in Lubbock, Tx with a Dish 500 (110 & 119) and a 2nd dish at 148 for locals. I have 2 921s and 2 sd receivers . They used 2 sw64s. To get Voom and locals I was told I would need a superdish(110,119,129) and the 148 with 44s. The cost to do this was $399. Why are the 148 customers paying $399 to get what the 61.5 or superdish only customers get free. Seems like discrimination to me. There is no plans to move Lubbock locals to 129.

I gotya humm.. with 2 921's.. thats a toughy as the dp21 sw is out of the option.. unfortantly he needs to have a dpp44 switch. witch is about 200 bucks a pop.. then 100 dollars for installation and truck roll. thats not including the 4th location install (3rd dish) or dish 1000

Yes, I've held off for the same reason myself. The price of a 44 switch is too much. I need 148 to get cbs hd, I've got some local/distant stations from SF on 129. I'm hoping they will they will move cbs to 129 like I've heard rumors of, or put up SF hd locals in mpeg4.

Either way I'm waiting.

he would only need 2 dishes...a dish 1000 and his 148 dish

but since he doesnt qualify for Must carry 399 sounds about right
200 for the switch
100 for the dish
100 for install

Seems like with all the satelites up there now Dish should go back to the old C-band days and have a moving dish. With my Echostar 8000 I got all the Satellites up there by simply selecting the channel I wanted and the receiver moved the dish. Only needed one dish and an lnb. Would not need much of a motor to move these small dishes. I believe there are dish movers already available for RVs. Would they work ?

that would quickly exceed the cost of switches. Imagine the eight motorized dishes required for a home with four dual-tuner units.

for a single-tuner box though I agree it's a more flexible solution.

Quanity vs Quality
