Why do they think my receiver is leased?

Well, after activating my 722 last night that I purchased from Dishstore.net something today just told me to call and make sure they hadn't signed me up for anything that would put me in a contract. Well, the lady was nice and said it didn't list me as being in a contract and that I had a leased 722 and I don't know if she named the 501. I stopped her right there and said I didn't have a leased 722 that I own it. She asked if I bought it from a retailer and I said yes. In attempt to fix this she had to talk to a supervisor. Finally she came back and said she would make a note on my account but that it may take 1-2weeks to have them correct it to show that I own it. WTF shouldn't they be able to change it instantly? This lady told me to keep my receipt so I basically just printed off the page from Dishstore.net in my account saying I ordered one and it shipped. Will this be good enough or should I call and ask dishstore about getting a receipt?

Why do they list it as leased? Will it really take that long to change or should I call back and talk to someone else? Am I going to have problems down the road from this? I just don't get why it would say it's leased since I clearly bought it. Has this happened to anyone else?

Can he change stuff with Dish like that? He has always been awesome to work with which is why I bought this from him but I didn't want to waste his time over something if he had no control over it. That's why I hadn't called him yet.

I think the default assumption is that all dual tuners are leased receivers as that is how they are generally available. Few people actually purchase them. So few, I'm sure, that CSRs don't even bother to ask at time of activation if it is leased or purchased.

It was like $403 with shipping. It was $389 or whatever it is on their site before shipping plus whatever ground shipping was. As you can probably see if I ever turn it off I don't want them taking it when I paid that price for it.

Good luck ! It took years to rectify the same problem I had with my 622 !

I made countless calls to customer service each time they said they couldn't fix the problem on my bill but are attaching a note to my account saying I own it . Finally, on one of my bills, I deducted all of the extra charges I was paying for the last few years, and included a copy of my Dishstore invoice, and a letter detailing what I had gone through. Finally I get a call from one of the higher ups who apologized profusely, and took a bunch of money off my bill and finally fixed the problem.

Sorry but owning over leasing dosen't save on monthly charges.
Claude should be able to help getting your receiver correctly listed as owned. By now he should have Charlies cell phone number so he can give extremely personal service.

Claude was great to deal with once again. I'm glad I ordered from him once again. Well worth the extra over eBay. We had a 3 way call with Dish today and hopefully they will get it fixed. I'm not sure if they will or not but Claude was super helpful. I hope Dish gets this fixed.

...about 18-months and several calls and faxes into E* Corporate before they stopped trying to claim ownership of my 3 purchased 622s.

If you just have one HD receiver there is no leasing fee even if it's leased.

I've been fighting E* for months over this. I have one HD receiver with Top 200 and HD Essentials and they've been dinging me the leased receiver fee from the get-go. This I continue to pursue. They also took me off the DVR Advantage Plan when I got the HD receiver and were charging me the DVR fees as well. I got the DVR Advantage Plan taken care of but they only reimbursed the DVR fees back to when I called about it and not back to when they inadvertently took me off the plan in the first place. I have made no headway in getting the rest of the other money refunded and it really isn't worth my time to continue to pursue it. Dish's billing system is screwed up because it has too many permutations and some of the CSRs are just not competent. Why they removed me from the DVR Adv Plan in the first place is anyone's guess. I wonder how much money they make on screwups like this that aren't caught by the subscriber?

Sure it does. there is no leasing fee on a HD receiver if you own the receiver.

WRONG! Instead of the $7 "Leased Receiver Fee," you will be charged the $7 "Additional Receiver Access Fee." There is NO $$ savings on your monthly bill by owning compared to leasing. It no longer makes economic sense to own rather than lease. Owning back in the 1990's was a different matter. Of course, if one wants more than the 4 tuners Dish will lease, then you must own additional tuners.

There is a situation where it saves, if you are a new customer and lease a 722 you will not be charged a lease fee. If you are an existing customer and upgrade you are charged the lease fee even if its the only box.

DVD recorder-will it work w/sat

Any word on turning a vip211 into a DVR?
