Was meaning "retired" as an euphemism for "ran off, but don't want to get the bad press for making mistakes now or in the future" aka "fired."

I voted for Charlie at ND to be the one who has it decided for him that he will be retired first. The other 2 may well follow, but last time I was in the area, the ND alums were not exactly thrilled what he has done there since he actually had players he recruited start playing for him. After Quinn left, so did their offense, no matter what the PR machine that Jimmy's family hired for him may tell you.
Did MI make a mistake getting rid of Carr and replacing him with Rod? IMO, yes, he as done no better on the field and has not recruited nearly as well.
As for Michigan and R Rod, I think it's too soon to say .... he'as only had one recruiting class. To soon to say for sure.
While Bowden of FSU has not done all that well as of late, that whole situation reminds me of Penn State, in lots of ways. Just a few years ago, the fans at PS wanted JoPa's head on a platter and now they will never acknowledge that. Are fans fickle? Sure are, but they also buy the tickets and in turn, pay the salaries.

If Michigan loses today---which is likely---and close their season with a loss to Ohio State---which is a certain---Dick Rod is gone! He will have lost 7 of his last 8 games and followed his initial 3-9 season with an equally stellar 5-7 season; compiling an 8-16 record while at the helm of Michigan. The biggest loser in Michigan football history.
In all honesty, the team could have been coachless and compiled a better win-loss record. Instead, Coach Rod continues to ignore the defense (a must in order to play in the Big Ten) and continues to try and fit a square peg into a round hole. Yikes!
I disagree. There is no reason he sould have finished less than .500 last season...his 3-9 showed me how completely inept and overwhelmed he is at Michigan. Likewise, after beating up on pansies early in the season, Coach Rod has lost 5 of the last 6 games, and will most likely lose 7 of 8 facing Wisconsin (today) and Ohio State next weekend.
Carr, as his record shows, was a solid and reliable coach....and an all-around good guy. I never understood why he wasn't well-liked, but apparently many at the University were not happy with Coach Carr winning 9.45 and losing 2.9 each year (his average during the past 11-years), and having trouble with Ohio State his past few seasons. They traded him for RR?That is one thing that absolutely astounds me, why Carr and Willingham were fired at UM & ND. I thought they were both pretty decent coaches and were doing well in their programs (Carr had the better record of the two, Willingham was 21-15 at ND) and yet they had to be replaced by two "coaches" that I considered at the time to be questionably "better."
Oh, well, I am betting both are canned soon and am wondering in what order they will go. The guys on ESPN that are busy sucking up on air are the only ones who seem to be impressed by the teams these two have put together.
