Who is gonna win the World Series?

dantheman77,

welcome to the site. Tonight it will be another elimination game for the "Red Birds". Who has more pressure in this game? Two good pitchers are going at it and I see the game as a 50/50 chance that anyone can get it. If St. Louis is able to push it to a game 7, the pressure will be on Houston and Clements. I will love to see a Game 7.

What's the "I love the DH" "I hate the DH" stuff anyways? Isn't it time they got together with this? I realize i'm in an AL city, surrounded by NL cities, but watching pitchers trying to hit is about the most absurd thing in sports, so what's the appeal of no-DH?

There's much more strategy involved in games without the DH.

Well yeah because you're basically only using 8 batters instead of 9...When a player has two choices, strikeout or bunt, that's not a guy who should be hitting...

Part of the strategy is: should the pitcher stay in the game or be taken out for a pinch hitter in a close game. If the pitcher is having a masterful game, that's a big gamble for a manager. There are plenty of Pre-DH era pitchers who could hit quite well. Sure, the DH can give more runs, which in this era when baseball is crying for paid admissions, may make the owners happy. But, it over simplifies a game which prized itself, at one time, on simple intricacies and managerial strategy.
