This is getting beyond frustrating. I have an SG-9120 motor for my 1.2 meter dish that broke and I'm trying to replace it. I purchased both the dish and motor from Galaxy [WSI] a few years ago. I went back to the website and ordered another one. The website showed that it was in stock. I ordered one only to be contacted later that it was actually out of stock and they didn't know when they were going to get more. I went to Sadoun and he had his large branded motor [DG-380] which was supposed to be in stock and I ordered that one. I was contacted a few days later and told that he didn't have any more but he had the SG6100 with the 50mm tube for the big dish and would I like that? I replied in the affirmative and a few days later I was emailed and told that he could ship a 50mm tube with the motor but it would take grinding to make it fit on the motor shaft to rotate freely. I don't want to spend more than $100 bucks only to find out that my grinding wouldn't work so I asked him to refund my purchase.

I went to several other sites which seem to be WSI resellers and of course they show the motors in stock but I'd bet that after I place an order they will try to get it from WSI and they will be out. Wash, rinse and repeat. My rant is two fold. First of all why don't retailers keep their websites up to date? While both Galaxy and Sadoun cheerfully and promptly refunded my purchase price it's a lot less hassle for both the retailer and customer not to allow a customer to purchase something that they don't have. And secondly does anyone know of a seller that actually has a motor with a 50 to 55mm shaft in stock that I can purchase?

Which 1.2m dish are you trying to motorize?
.
There have been some posts about buying a STAB HH120 motor from a dealer in Canada.
I just don't recall who.
Strongly recommend that motor.

I forget the model number because I've painted over it but it's the 1.2 meter WSI dish that I
bought through Galaxy about 3 years ago.

Thanks. I found this;

http://angelelectronics.ca/shop/satellite/dish-motors/stab-italia-hh120

If that is the place. Doesn't have much in the way of specs but it looks like a fat tube. Anyone confirm that the tube is at least 50mm? And If I recall correctly that is the motor that is mounted upside down. I'm at work now but I'll have to check the bracket on that dish. I don't remember if there is a little lip on the bracket that might have to be ground to work with a topsy turvey motor or not. The HH120 is a good motor, eh?? This is a pretty hefty little dish.

If I recall, the first WSI 1.2 didn't fit a motor too well.
Post a couple of pictures of it.
?Might save you some trouble.

Looking at it a bit closer and trying to crop these pictures I'm thinking the STAB would probably work. There is a little lip on the top of the bracket that I actually bent upwards on the original install to slide over the top of the post. If I bend that back down that will help hold the dish on the new motor while I tighten things up. BTW the elevation adjuster was a homebrew. The larger dishes really need to come with them to being with IMO.

The stab HH120 works fine on my 1m WSI dish.

Cham,

I notice in your picture that it says "Fortec Star" on the label. I have seen others that say "Stab"...

I'm looking for one for my ChannelMaster 1.2, and I'm wondering if we're in the same boat with the HH120 as with the SG2100 motor.

Are there "real" HH120's and "clone" HH120's?

Just wondering, how long have you had your unit, and where did you buy it from?

?Thanks...

Yea, I think only the GeoSatPro 1.2 from SatelliteAV has such an adjuster.

?
Well, so do molded Prodelin and Andrew, but they're too heavy & expensive to put on the motor.!.! ;)
.

I use a STAB120 I purchased from Sadoun several years ago. It's got a Channel Master 1.0M dish on it.

You'll notice I had to shim the STAB sleeve with a length of 2" PVC I cut lengthwise which works fine. That 1M Channel Master is a heavy dish. I also have a 1.2M channel master, but not using it anymore.

You made me go out and read the label on mine. It is a STAB distributed by Fortec Star (Sadoun I bought from (or was..) I think I bought it around 2003 or 2005? Time flies...

Still has the unbroken seal...

Ignore the flat horizontal steel brace below the STAB bracket. I used that to hold the motor bracket when I was setting it up, and left it there. It makes motor mounting very easy.

You might want to review whether to sling around that heavy stock CM mount, or not.
The stamped metal GeoSatPro from SatelliteAV might be a better choice.
?It'd certainly be lighter, and you could use it as-is.
With a CM, you might want to make a custom light weight mount.
?(described many times here on the forum)

Here is my GeoSatPro 1.2m dish, I am very happy with it never gave me any problems, easy to install.
Just like Mr. Anole said this may be a better choice.
Good luck.

He can spend $145 for the GeoSatPro dish, PLUS $135 shipping = $280, ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/48-Inch-120...977?pt=US_Antennas_Dishes&hash=item1c2a432201 )

OR, he can spend $174.00 (this includes shipping) for a REAL STAB HH120 (there are fake ones from Fortec, so watch out), ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/SATELLITE-D...386?pt=US_Antennas_Dishes&hash=item5d3606a012 ) and use his present dish.

That just getting the motor is a huge price difference, and if he uses some slotted angle-iron and a couple of U-bolts to replace the present mount, it should work just fine.

The published assembled weight of the GEOSATpro 1.2M is 27 lbs.
The published maximum antenna weight for the Stab HH120 is 37.5 lbs.

Weighing three 1.x metre dishes I have in my possession I get the following.

1 metre metal, no labels I can see to indicate manufacturer, looks similar to pictures I have seen of Winegard/StarChoice dishes of this size - 24.5 lbs without weighing the mounting bracket that will fit ~2.25 inch OD pole
1 meter fibreglass ChannelMaster, including the dish bracket and az/el mount that will fit ~2.25 inch OD pole - 27 lbs
1.2 meter fibreglass ChannelMaster, including the dish bracket and az/el mount that will fit ~3.25 inch OD pole - 33.5 lbs

I know that would be pushing the envelope to motorize the 1.2 but,
1) dish weight with all mounting hardware is 90 % of the manufacturer stated maximum weight for the motor
2) dish will mounted on a steel post
3) location will be sheltered from prevailing wind direction by spruce trees and neighbours house

Most likely the 1.2 will end up fixed on a pole because it will be easier to deal with the post/motor tube sizes and one of the 1 metres will end up on the motor.

I'll report back on results.

FTAGeek @ Calgary airport :),
I have had this one forever (maybe 10 years), from a local dealer in Winnipeg who is still in business. I think it cost around $200 at the time, before I knew of anyone else into this stuff. I had it on a 1.2m dish for a few years until we had a high wind that broke one of the ears (for bolting onto the bracket). Switched it with a newer unit that lasted a couple of months then broke. I then decided the 1.2m is just too big for these diseqc motors and have set up a multi-feed system on the dish, currently with only two LNBFs.
