Can anyone give me an idea of who I can call at dish to find out when our local channels will be available in our zip code 70605. I was informed by local channel that all equipment is in place. Customer service at dish is useless.

not only local equiptement but backhaul to the uplink center, encoders, compression equiptement, and transponder space.

all this takes time:( and agreements with your local stations.

hopefully someone else who may live in your area may have more info.

E has come a long way LIL is approaching 100%

There's no one that knows they just have this giant wheel they spin twice a year to find out. :D

Couldn't he just use an OTA antenna?

my 722Ks are working mostly well. they are a good option if you have decent OTA reception.

Airplane flutter even on my stations with !00% signal strength cause lost signal on satellite reception and lost recordings:(

No doubt its a software issue. and the 722K has been out how long:(

Lake Charles only has a fox and nbc station in the DMA. Only way to get locals in that zip is either "moving" or AllAmericanDirect

I think that is why DISH hasn't added it yet. There is not enough money in adding two channels. THey want the law to change so they can import a neighboring city local channels( Abc & Cbs) missing to fill out the big 4. In this case, Beaumont/Pt.Arthur ,Tx locals , since we can see their Fox and Sub channel CW in our area. Lake Charles used to be able to see Cbs and Abc before we went digital. Now Cbs and Abc don't reach as far as they did before the transition. Some parts of Orange and Bridge City Tx that don't see Cbs at all because of the tower having a blind spot on one side of the tower.

Exactly... there's no point in adding on FOX, NBC, and PBS for the area.

In Lake Charles with a CM4228 you can easily pick up NBC, FOX, PBS from Lake Charles; ABC, CBS, FOX from Lafayette; and ABC & NBC from Beaumont. CBS is a no go from Beaumont.

I can't help but wonder if all this is on it's way to being OBE. The future seems so dim for OTA. Will we start seeing fewer OTA stations in another 5 or 10 years?

a chief engineer of a local oTA stion told me their license was a license to steal.

well those days are coming to a close.

just like the iceman, after the invention of the fridge.

adjust or die

I was told by the General Manager of KPLC NBC 7 (Jim Serra) back in November 2009 that KPLC would be uplinked by the end of the year. I asked "end of what year? 2009?" He said YES, end of 2009. Now, it is only January 15 2010, and I haven't asked how it is coming along, but someone could sure call or email him and ask the question. He said back in November that their technicians were working with Dish getting uplinked. The agreements have been in place for several years according to Mr. Serra.
