if you have a 1.5 TB and nothing else interests you then its not for you i guess. i don't and i'm really interested in those 5 tuners. very interested in the 34 for sure....

I would like a HR24 or the next gen with 5 tuners, but I don't want to be restricted to 1 single Hard Drive as this appears to be doing.
I will be the first one to preorder from SS for this baby(HR34). It will go in the main room and I'll keep my other 5 DVRs where they are.
Then I will have to get upgraded to SWiM I guess.

While the whole 5 tuner thing is nice I wish they came out with a receiver or maybe even a software upgrade that allowed this option
If you had a AM21 it would add a OTA tuner option to record so you could have 2 sat and one OTA recording at same time

As the AM21 is a dual tuner unit, it would make more sense to shoot for 2+2 like the competition's high end DVRs.
I'm pretty sure the hardware isn't there to support it on the HR2x line.
For anyone who likes fonts (some call them typefaces), the one that is being used for the new on screen programming guide is in the Clearview series.

I wish I could get it. I do have the TVG Humanist which is the default Tru2Way font from GuideWorks (A colab effort between Rovi and Comcast). I got this with the ITV developer kit from TVWorks interactive.

Well, with me moving into a new place in 2 weeks that has abslutely NO line of sight for anything (in the middle of a forest), I have to give up D* after 12 years and go to friggin Comcast... ackk! That said, I also have ordered a Tivo Premiere XL for 2 rooms, so hopefully will enjoy the updated Tivo goodness. There was no way in HELL I was going to go with their terrible Motorola HD DVR and pay $17 a month for each unit--at least in my area they give free HD & free CableCards if your account is all CableCard--the Comcast guy said that because I happen to be in one of the few markets that do this, there are people who won't give up their Tivos for anything.
My parents OTOH are on D* (no cable out there), and even though I have made peace with my HR series DVRs (particularly with the HD GUI)--and really like them now, I made the mistake of telling my parents 2 or 3 years ago that DirecTV was coming out with a new HD Tivo unit after they were forced onto HR DVRs--they have reminded me about this every couple months since that time. When my dad found out I was getting a *Tivo* at my new place, he launched into it again--he has never forgot the Tivo (had a DirecTivo since Series 1). So I know that if this thing ever comes out, they have 2 of them sold immediately!
That said, even with the new HD UI, I have a feeling that the Premiere may feel like a downgrade--all the reviews I am reading say that the biggest gripe I had about Tivo--the speed--has not been fixed, and is even worse. They also say that the unit flips between HD and SD GUIs. The HR by comparison is amazingly snappy. My parents OTOH will differ. I almost think the Tivo works at their pace, and that is partly why they never got comfortable with the D* DVR lol
Admittedly I would take ANY series of Tivo (as long as it's HD) over that Motorola box that Comcast offers--I have friends on FIOS who have a similar unit, and it is almost unusable. I do think there is still a market for a Tivo on D*--I honestly don't think it's *bad*--and I do think, much like how the Ipad and Iphone are for their respective users, that the Tivo is truly a DVR that a kid (or someone my parent's age) can pick up and use while easily "getting it" and without much heartache.
I just don't get why it has taken this long...

Are you absolutely sure you can't get a signal anywhere.
Friends of mine built thier house in a woods, we took down 35 trees to build the house and we still managed to find a spot, fwiw, it wasn't easy and it's a long run over to the end of the property.

Oh I am very good about seeking out LOS. My mom has a nearly 500 foot cable run at her house that she was told could "never have good TV", and which I grew up with one channel that crapped in and out (at least it was Fox! lol)--I still remember her scream when I locked on to the sat signal for the first time and it was playing a PPV promo.
Unfortunately my new place is an apartment complex so a long run is out of the question (from my scoping around it would have to be about 300 feet away on a pole). It faces dead south but there is a HUGE tree right in front of the deck, another to the left, and trees all around further out--it's a no go for satellite except from about 130-150* WL--and there's nothing real good that far west so I can't even FTA
My current apartment has a east facing deck, but I could still see from about 80* to 115* so I had D* and still could FTA with my old Primestar dish when the mood stuck me. My lack of satellite connectivity did play into my decision--but I had a choice of 2 apartments--a small 1 bedroom that was downstairs (and had LOS off the back step), or a really cool big loft in the trees (which I went with).
We'll see--my Comcast deal runs for 2 years (they did set me up with a VERY good deal... 2 cablecards, HD, their full "Premiere" tier, with HBO & Showtime, plus 15 meg internet service and a free "owned" cable modem for $99--$105 after taxes--guaranteed for 24 months)--and that's about how long I plan to stay at my new place before I get into something bigger/buy.

What about Dish Network, they have a Western and a Eastern Arc.
Dish's Western Arc is 119-129*... I might be able to hit 129 at my new place, but doesn't their guide data come off 119? Also aren't locals on 110?

AT&T U-verse is using it for its on screen programming guide, called Clearview ATT. Difference I notice is in the appearance of the ampersand [&].
Go to this site and click, under "Downloadable Assets," Clearview ATT Font. I think that should work.
