I was on another satellite forum for a few years before the posts started separating bbetween 20 minutes a post and a day a post.

I joined here thinking this would be faster, and it's not much.

Have a lot of people done away with FTA or something?

what were you expecting? Posts every minute?

This isnt the board where every 5 minutes there is a "my channels are down. heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I loaded the newest "bin" yet I cant watch my porn on D!$h or B3V. Help!!

Right now we're kinda in that time of year where the folks in the Northern climates are preparing on projects since we've had tons of snow. The folks in the South know this is the best time of the year to work on projects...when summer comes the only good time to work on it would be in the middle of the night because its too damn hot. Heck tonight in Minneapolis we're suppose to have snow

Winter folks dont do any projects...they dream about them. Tech posts drop...fun posts pick up
Spring folks try and get stuff done so they're outside.
Summer its usually too warm to do projects so you prepare for fall
Fall lots of folks do stuff

We're a heckuva lot busier than other boards and their FTA area :)

Faster meaning exactly what? questions like... "can I get anything on my 20 inch pizza dish now that I can't get all the pirated stuff"?
I'm joking of course, but seriously. How many sites are there left that have any kind of quality FTA information besides satelliteguys.
NONE!

YES! it was above freezing all day today... and dry! And the wind was below 20 MPH most of the day. Tomorrow is expecting rain and the wind back up in the 30's. Temp is supposed to be above35 all day also. Hope I can get a bunch more done. Can not get a backhoe in to dig a new hole for C band, too wet, and with that wind and rain will not try to get the last two KU realigned. That will have to wait - Probably get two shed roofs replaced first when the wind dies down again.... Caving time also, so may be out with the neighbor cattle -- oh, yes, I have to make the 100 mile trip to the vets tomorrow also. Too expensive to have her drive out for smaller animals.

Yep, this is the time to get those projects done. Shortly, it will be mosquito season, up here anyway.

Just started on the T-90 project here, after having finished installing both motorized dishes. I got the toroidal dish way back in 2005, just before Katrina. It's been in storage too long ;) ...

THAT is the MOST accurate description of my satellite hobby!

I spend the winter months dreaming and planning. Drawing things out on paper, researching ideas, asking questions, answering questions, searching for parts and or new equipment, writing helpful tips and tutorials when I can, reading those from others and overall, just spending a great deal more time on the internet, period. So, it is logical that I would post more during the winter months. At least up until the time that spring starts knocking on my door and I have to take all my winter information and ideas from paper, along with all my new toys from the closest and put them to use in actual applications.

So just as ICE states, every warm day that comes along after a long, cold, hard and gloomy winter, we are OUTSIDE! I LOVE that word. And you must imagine how I am saying it, too... You have to think about the animated movie: "Open Season" where Elliot the deer tempts Boog the bear to come "O U T S I D E"! Hah Hah HAH! ;)

Of course, not only does spring and summer bring a time to play with our outdoor satellite equipment, it is also a time to mow, plant trees and gardens and grass, turn the water back on at the cabin, fix the winter damage to the road, fix the cabin, fish and boat and go swimming, hunt mushrooms, open the drive-in theater, have bon fires, drink some beer and generally just get out of the doggone house and regain some sanity in the sun!

RADAR

we got 2 inches yesterday but it was all melted by 11 ;)

Sounds like the near-record snowfall we got a couple of winters ago... :D

We have had (or having) the longest cold season I can remember since I was a kid. But this weekend they are forcasting sun and 55°. YAHOO!! but wait! it's Easter. And I'm the "chief cook and bottle washer" in our family. I'll be doing Easter dinner for 12, Ham and Turkey, potatoes and gravy ................hmmm....guess it ain't all bad. But no satellite stuff, dang it! I got a hole to dig. Wait, that's what I had kids for. :)

Thanks for reminding me of the stuff we have to do in a couple weeks at the cabin. Well lake house (its a year round house) but I can add a couple more
-takes the bales of hay off the septic tank (to prevent freezing)
-put the dock out
-put the pontoon out
-charge up the golf cart
-push the sand that built up on shore back down. The winds there push the ice and sand up on shore so there is like a ridge on the shore that has to be taken care of
