Like many, I'm pretty particular about my DVR GUI and I've been looking around the Northern VA area to find a retail location so I could test drive the HR-20 before I decided to pick one up.

I called D* and the rep mentioned a Best Buy might have one, but none of the big boxes seem to have working DVRs, just receivers.

Any suggestions?

Will D* let me send the HD-DVR back if I don't like it? Any penalties?

Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

I've had the same concern over the years. I finally bought a HR20 at Best Buy since they agreed I could bring it back if I didn't like it (and they wrote that on my reciept). I kept it. With any new electronics nowadays, they all have good and bad features.

Also, BB gave me 10% off just for asking the store manager.

You know as soon as you activated the HR20 that receiver was yours.

The Costco in Chantilly had one for Demo.

Once you install the receiver on your account it's your and 98% will not refund any money spent.

Thanks, I'll go check it out. The more and more I've read, it sounds like the HR-20/21 is a pretty good DVR.

Cheers!

If you need OTA for an antenna (locals) you want to stay away from the new H-HR21 's as they have no OTA connection, stick with the H-HR20-700,-100's

An OTA would be great where he lives, but DC gets the locals in HD from D*.
