When will we see The Travel Channel HD?

not me...i did say u may see some before D12 is running.

& to a previous poster saying 20-25....its more like 50+ HD channels not carried yet.

According to some estimates they currently now have only about 8 HD spots left open out of the 140 total between the 2 sats....so they may be at what is considered maximim capacity to them.

Is that assuming that all of the current PPV HD channels remain up?

I know some of them are seeing double duty as sports channels, but I thought they still had options to convert some of these to national HD channels.

Right now the number of PPV HD channels seems extraordinarily high.

Even holding 8 as empty spares seems high.

yes thats with the current HD PPV....could be less than 8 too.

The sooner the better, and ya this is one channel DISH had in HD that I now miss since switching.

If contracts are in place, DirecTV could add a whole bunch now. But, I bet we'd be back to HD Lite.

As mentioned above directv has:

- a total of 14 HD transponders on each of the 2 HD sats.
- so thats a total of 28 HD transponders between the 2 HD sats.
- they will not go above 5 channels per transponder as they dont wanna become dish & kill the picture quality.
- so 28 X 5 = 140 total HD channel spots.
- its estimated about 132 of those HD channel spots are basically taken/reserved already.
- that leaves only about 8 open HD channel spots left.
- so again how many does directv want to leave open & still feel comfortable ?
- so about 5.7% HD spots are still open....that may be at what they consider just about full capacity now already then....who knows ?

I think it was meant to replace the one of the 101 satellites. I don't know if thats still the plan , But if it is I'm quite sure some of their SD channels may make it on the D12 as well as HD.

Being a virtual duplicate of D10 and D11 (ie. Ka band), it could not replace anything at 101W.

Seeing all those missing HBO & Cinemax feeds makes the Premier package seem pretty crappy and not quite worth its "Premier" title.
