Now that we have S338 we need the Orkin Man to bring S339 to kill all the bugs.
How SOOOON can we expect it to arrive. I don't have room on my Hard drive or 95 events for all this crap.

It's called JOB SECURITY. :)

Although I got to admit I haven't been having any issues here with it. In fact been very happy as of late.

So ya call that job security eh?:D In my world, that's pink slip territory!

Its a bit better than the last release, but it adds new bugs that I noticed that has to do with timer lists and editing recordings to save to different folders. Issue appears to be with the filesystem/software interaction. Good thing is the OTA tuner dropping out till reboot issue is complely gone.

The majority of the post didn't make any sense to me concerning not enough hard drive room and only 95 events. Was it supposed to?

As for when we'll see S339, I'd guess never since they skip version numbers. The last software update was S335 at end of January and we've now jumped to S338. From my understanding they can improve upon and add to the existing software with those pesky nightly updates. (I'm at a loss as to how updates exactly work now in standby mode since the Hopper no longer requires a reboot and wants to update even during an active recording)

I updated yesterday to S338 and had dozens of recordings some on Chanel's I never watch. Most of those recordings I did not request or schedule. My hard disk is now over 90% full. My original rant was not very clear other than looking for the exterminator to get rid of the bugs.
This "update" was more annoying than most since it obviously broke stuff for me, where the last few simply didn't fix stuff I was waiting for.

Okay, well I guess that explains the rant about hard drive space and timer events (The S338 update now allows 200 timer events, by the way). I don't understand how it could have recorded so many unwanted shows to accumulate enough to put it at 90% full. How long was it between when it updated and when you were able to look at your Hopper? My update finished at 1:03 a.m. but I was around during and after. On the other hand, the living room Hopper's update was delayed by a few days and it didn't update until March 8th (Saturday morning).

I'm aware it's not a competition but what happened between my two Hoppers following the update would define more as being broken. As strange as it sounds of what happened to yours at least those extra recordings can just be deleted to regain space since you don't even want them. The update effectively ruined pre-existing shows and movies which had been stored on my Hoppers from time frames as far as several months to as recent as the current week. For some reason, whatever movies recorded on Cinemax and Showtime and everything on Chiller and Syfy were rendered unplayable. They're just sitting on the Hopper taking up space until I bring myself to delete them. I've tried everything to recover them.

I've had S338 on both Hoppers w/sling for a couple of days now, what a turd this update has been. So on both Hoppers today I was looking at the scheduled recordings for the next few days and noticed several conflicts, so I skipped several shows to record later only to see that the shows set to record are no longer set to record, WTH. I reset both Hoppers thinking that it might reset the timers but that didn't happen, so I don't know if the shows are going to record or not, if they don't it's not the end of the world but IMO this is a major fail on this update.

Before the update I moved over 200 episodes of NCIS to EHD. That left my HD at about 86%. So the dozens of shows that recorded by the time I looked around 8PM were significant on an already full HD. I watched a couple recorded shows but haven't looked at anything on Syfi yet. I am afraid to look at my timers, I had just trimmed them back to around 85 before the update, so I am happy to hear about the increase. From a point of programming logic 512 or 1024 timers and 4096 events would seem to be som obvious numbers to shoot for rather than the puny numbers we have been living with. While they are "fixing" things maybe also allow recording directly to EHD if that is where the room is.

That's so odd that it would have recorded so many unwanted things but I guess it had plenty of time. I recently got a replacement Hopper so I have only had this one since last month. That other Hopper used to create random timer events for movies and a few shows that I never created, but I always caught them before anything recorded. It was so obvious no one had created them too since the "Created from" field when viewing the Timer was blank. It was bizarre such as a movie titled Home Grown and a few reality shows I can't recall now since I wasn't interested and A.N.T. Farm. The Home Grown timer event was created a few times on separate occasions. I recall some discussion that if you make "Seek and Record" timers the Hopper will try to find like-minded programming it thinks will be of interest to you and self-create timers but I don't know what criteria it was getting from my recording habits if that was the case.

The only thing I've seen S338 do is when you have a conflict and it informs me of a later showing and you choose that later showing from the resolution screen, what results in your Timers is some other movie or show which you didn't want instead of the future showing you told it to record. Had I not caught it, it would have recorded in place of what I wanted.

If you get around to trying to watch your Syfy shows, let me know. With my luck, this is only affecting me. It doesn't follow logic though since it happened to both Hoppers. It specifically targeted all the Syfy and Chiller movies and shows as if it was an epidemic and they had all become infected. From now on whenever I record something on those networks it's going immediately to my External Hard Drive. I have over 40 movies and several series of shows to replace now and re-find and re-record. Eventually over time in weeks or months both of those networks should re-show all or most of what I'm missing but it's upsetting. It's not exactly easy to rebuild my collection of past Syfy shows though.

I only had a few shows scheduled on Syfi like Wharehouse 13, which either ended the season or the series a while back. I never heard of Chiller, so no help there.

I noticed that when I look thru the guide and switch to program to check it out and then swichd to another channel, then the next day when I look thru my recordingsI find that the HWS has recoded everything that I looked at and I did not to tell it to record except channel hop.

When you finish looking at the program description you are hitting select like you always did, now if you look in the lower left corner of the screen you will see you are selecting record or watch if the program is currently on.

Perhaps that is what happened but I'm not so sure because something bizarre just happened for me this morning. I had timer events previously created for Odysseus: Voyage to the Underworld, Aladdin and the Death Lamp, and Pegasus vs. Chimera. All three of these movies air back-to-back on Syfy. After making these timers active, I scrolled across through the Guide to see what else was on Syfy all the way to March 20th. I did Info on a few movies and shows coming up, but not everything. Now I view Syfy from the Guide and see timer events have shown up for everything scheduled on Syfy for several days with the cut off being Sunday, March 16th at 7 a.m. I am talking everything all across has a timer event either active or skipped due to conflicts. This includes the next movie and all the other movies and shows for the evening, and even the early morning infomercials which I wasn't even aware of. My Timers are currently at 199. There are no Timers for these extra Syfy recordings. I can Skip them or Restore them from the Guide and Daily Schedule.

In all honesty, I like Syfy so I don't mind this too much. I skipped what I didn't want and kept what I would have wanted to record later anyway. When I view one with Edit Timer from the Daily Schedule, it takes me to my Seek and Record Timer I created for UNDERWORLD on Channel 122 (to catch movies in the Underworld franchise airing on Syfy such as Underworld: Evolution and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, it also caught Odysseus: Voyage to the Underworld). However, the movie I'm viewing is The Seamstress with nothing to do with Underworld or having underworld in the description and WEN Hair Care definitely doesn't have any connection. Also the artwork displayed for all of them is incorrect and belongs to Wrong Turn 3. Okay, so I have confirmed that somehow all of these extra Syfy recordings are linked to my single Timer. I created this Timer well before the S338 update when I only had 96 Timers. If I were to delete it I'm almost certain all of these events would go with it.
