Whats your normal signal quality on AMC5?

I have been moving the dish around all morning and the best I can get is 64% quality on this satellite. What is a normal quality range for reception on AMC5?? Should I choose a different satellite as my true south sat?(zip 26149)

Depends on transponder and receiver. Some receivers have lower readings..and since you didn’t mention the receiver I will give you what I can get

TP with New York Net-60
TP with the educational stuff-75
TP with KTEL on it-90

This is on a Pansat 1500

Conversely, on my Satworks which has a low signal meter
NYN-39
Educational-44
KTEL-50

On a Pansat 2500 with 76cm dish, I'm getting 40-50, which is typical. It doesn't seem to be a real strong satellite for me.

KTEL-TV channel 25 is from Carlsbad, New Mexico, USA and is a Spanish TV network called Telemundeo. "Not sure the spelling though'

Funny thing though KTEL is really from Albuquerque, by using KTEL-LP channel 53.

I can get KTEL-TV via, satellite better than our local low power KTEL-LP here in Albuquerque!

KTEL usually pops in at about 90% when the dish is set up right, since the storm it's at about 74%.

I can get it pretty good with my OTA..little static on it but its much better than some of the other ones

you have to remember, this station is only at 1400 watts here in Mpls....use to be 110 when it was MTV2

DOH....thanks - at least I didn't call it K13UT or "Lucky 13," I watched a bit of it in its earlier incarnations.

Our OTA set up is downstairs in a concrete basement. Suprisingly, we get everything but WUMN just fine. Being able to see the Shoreview towers from the front door doesn't hurt, either

Over here in Rochester, NY, I get Telemundo at about 90-95%. NYN , OTB, and UEN all show 60% or better. This is with a Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra and a Fortec Star 90p dish from Sadoun (shameless plug).
