What we are hearing

Are you sure about that, I was at a friend house this weekend who has FIOS installed and it's a very nice picture beautiful in fact the equipment, guide, VOD worked flawlessly, quick, easy to use, everything is hard wired don't have to worry about storms. Internet access is incredible I was very impressed jealous in fact! I have Directv it's a shame how much false advertising DTV pumps out of it's pie hole, hell I'm still waiting for my local HD channels to be turned on, which they advertise as being actives by the end of last year and it's still not (Norfolk, Va). Directv has the nerve to lock people into these 2-year contracts and as you said never come threw on their promises on time. That's just bad business and I already know there will be at least 100 people responding to back them up like a bunch of clones, talking about how it's just not true Directv is honorable company my A**. They're no different from the cell phone companies who lock you in on these unbreakable contracts and don't delivery what they promise. Don't worry I will be first in line when FIOS comes to my area, I'm already on the waiting list, you see they already offer our local channels in HD, like they promise their customers. We should take a poll on how many people believe they will have a 100 HD channels by the end of the year like they advertised. I vote not likely!! !protest

Vurbano, see what you're missing!!!

quick question...i get both 9300 and 9301....anyway, 9301 comes in fine for a while, then it begins to pixelate. i get between 80-99 on all Xponders for 103b, except for Xponders 7 and 8 which come in at 0 and 74 respectively. should i be getting the ladder and wrenches or should i just give it a few days and see if the real launch will iron it out? i sure do know that i'd rather not climb on the roof ;p

What is a diplexor?

You can try swapping BBC's with the working box to see if that fixes the bedroom set. If you're using a diplexor on the bedroom cable remove that since you're not supposed to diplex OTA for the new sats.

Thank you for the reply, but if you don't mind... What is a diplexor and how would I know if I'm using one? Everything should be the same on all my sets, which would mean just BBCs.

Thanks.

Mike

all I can say is after reading tons of posts about this latest Direct TV fiasco, I am sure glad I signed with Dish a couple of months ago..

Why's that ???

Did all the DISH Sat's go up and work right out of the box ?

Oh thats right, they don't put thier own sats up, they buy ones already up there.....

And they are about ready to drop out of the sky. OH Well atleast they have HD PPV! . But they have 2 Satellite launches for next year too,Yea right!

Man, I wasn't trying to bust anyones b*lls, just stating an observation. I was on the fence for months on who to dump Comcast for, and I would have went with Direct, had they offerred a NC HD DVR, but they didnt.
And, using my 10 buck rabbit ears, and my Dish Net System, I watched SEVERAL Football games yesterday..
I guess you Direct TV folks are a cranky after how you have been "HD Teased" these last few weeks....:hungry:

You know, although I am not sure why, it always amazes me when people ask the SAME questions over and over again. I mean, I have seen people ask questions on a thread when the answer they are needing is at the top of the very page they are on or on the previous page of the thread. I would be willing to bet that we could reduce threads dramatically if people would just go ahead and take the time to at least go back 3 pages from the current end of the thread.
I am not trying to be a dick or anything, its just that there have been so many questions like "I don't get or have low signals on so and so, do I need to get new bbc's?"

It all boils down to this.....if you want a question, BEFORE you ask it, review a few of the previous pages of posts and I can almost promise you will see your answer or one very close to it.

DIRECTV has been getting knocks from investors for some time now about how poor their retention numbers were. The two year programming agreement has put a disappointingly small dent in the churn numbers, but they are better. Every subscriber they keep is another $700 they don't have to spend courting a new one.

Why would you expect an $ 800 HD DVR for free.

By the end of the month, D* will have more HD available than E* so I am not worried, of course I was not worried before either....

Both D* and E* amaze me at the amount of money they will spend for a new customer and how little they are willing to spend to retain an existing customer. When I left E* it was over a free HDR...I left and a month later they were giving them away free to everyone. Now E* calls once a month trying to get me back. I saw a study a few years back that the average company would spend $7 to get a new customer, yet would not spend $1 that it would take to retain a customer. Foolish, foolish people.

Hope I don't start a firestorm here, but it's like whenever I hear the democrats talking about a tax on business so they don't try to get one from the taxpayers. Well DUH,,, nothing is free and a tax on business will just be passed on th the consumer.

i dont recall paying any less since GW been in there and let's not bring up the price and taxes on gas. hell ....everything!

yes, Harshness you are correct.

I didn't EXPECT ANYTHING for free, but like any good consumer, I took advantage of the best deal that was offerred to me..Is something wrong with that?
