What to do? Picking out a decent Dish HD receiver.

The 811 is going to be replaced soon, and had its share of bugs anyway. The new receivers haven;t been in the field yet but are sure to have bugs in them when first released. That really leaves just the 942, which for me has been the most stable and reliable receiver that I've ever had from Dish. Just my $0.02,

It can be with or without a PVR.

I'm guessing you've never had a PVR? Use one for a week and you will never be able to go back to "TV Their Way."

The 921 was my first experience with one, and even though it was a colossal suck-fest, I just couldn't fall back to my old 6000.

Now I have a 942, and while it has a few glitches, it doesn't have any more problems than the HD Tivo. Get a 942. Definitely.

There is such a thing as a reliable Dish receiver? I am on my 4th 921 and my 2nd 811. I also have TW cable. The SA 8300 has worked perfectly. No problems. Perhaps just my experience.

:D

For those new to the world, the above is what's known as a rhetorical question.

People that have been around for a bit implicitly know the answer.

In case you're still scratching your head, the answer is "NO".
