We noticed the free HBO preview over the weekend, and decided to record a few things. One of the things (Lilo and Stitch) was on this morning at 12:40am, which technically would have been 40 minutes after the freeview ended. I checked and it looks like we got the whole recording. That made me wonder - when exactly does the preview end?

Free preview is over.

I may be wrong, but I don't think Lilo & Stich was on HBO. I can't find anything on the net about it, plus I don't think Disney would have anything to do with HBO.

Edit: Just saw the other thread, so you definitely should check it before letting any kids watch it.

Aaah. I lied. It was puss in boots on HBO. But - that is part of my question. The free preview ended on 9/17. Well, I was able to record PiB on 9/18 at 12:40am. I also double checked it to make sure it didn't only record half of the show (or pussies in boots :popcorn)

So that brings me back to my original question - does anyone know what time the freeviews end? Is it @ 1am when the boxes update? Or does it happen at midnight wherever Dish is? Just curious I guess.

Why doesn't that surprise me? lol

Thanks for chiming in Scott. Guess I'll be thankful I got that one, and keep my fingers crossed next time.

Just out of curiousity though (may be no answer for this one either) - lets say that it decided to cut off at 1am this morning. If I started to record the show that started at 12:40 - what would happen? Could be 1) I will have a 20 minute recording; 2) I'll have a 2 hour recording, of which 1:40 of it will be "order HBO" messages, or 3) It would finish recording the show, and then the "update" would kick in.

Any ideas or guesses?

Officially, this is what we say. All free previews start by 5 p.m. Eastern Time on the first day they are available.

Free previews are removed between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. Eastern Time on the day after they are scheduled to end.

Keep the DPP44?

Dish is really starting to SUCK!
