Well apparently a website I visited today downloaded something Symantec calls "Spyware.ActivmonAgent" and that was causing the problem. It's quarantined and the site is acting normally again.

Somehow it got past the IE7 popup blocker and the realtime AV scan.

Have you tried using the real time protection of SpyBot or Windows Defender, etc.?

What version and product of Norton are you using? Not sure what their real time spyware protection is versus some of the other quality tools. I only use them for AV and firewall along with hardware firewall.

I'm using Symantec AV corporate 10.0.2.2

I forgot Windows Defender is on there as well, it got past that too.

I remember distinctly the IE popup blocker making it's "plop" noise then launching me to some other website anyway. I closed it but not quick enough. Didn't think anything else about it till next time I came here and saw the PDA mode.
