Hey guys, I've just joined this site and I was wondering if I could get a channel lineup for a C-Band dish, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
Welcome to the site Hagen !!!
Not really an official C-band channel list but you can go to a few different places to look and see what is there.
It changes constantly. www.lyngsat.com www.sathint.com
ftalistings.com
There are you some places to start with.
No anything that is in the clear(Free), is free to get. Lots of those channels on the first to links will be scrambled make sure you are reading it correctly.
Everything on the last link is in the clear.
Just make sure you get a good up to date DVB-S2 capable receiver.
If you can afford to buy the satellite closest to you, you don't need to worry about setting up a dish, hire it done seriously though, you would use AMC9 at 83W for your "true south" satellite, which is where your dish would look the highest, that is be kind of straight, not tilted down to the east or west
NO Purchase Necessary. You can 'go' to any satellite.
AMC9 at 83W would be used to set up your dish. Then you'd program the other satellites, viewable from your location.
The 'bands' are Ku,, (5 digit frequency) requiring a 39 inch dish* and a 'motor" to be able to move to other satellites, and "C" band (4 digits). which requires a 'BUD' (Big Useful Dish) 6ft or greater across. A 10 ft is the most desirable, but as the size gets smaller, the less it will get.
A BUD requires a 'mover' and an actuator to be able to get more than one satellite, OR multiple LNBF assy's mounted. (best left until some experience is gained IMHO)
