we've decided to update the dish. we have a single DTV DVR ( not hd), may decide to add another reciever later on. the old dish is an 18" round with dual lnb. live in a remote area so want one that really pulls a signal in. what should we get. (hooking it up ourselves so needs to be a simple installation please!) tnx for the help. m

if there is even a remote possibility that you may do HD in the future; you might as well buy once smart and get that dish now and save the extra money and time having to replace it again later. especially since you are doing it yourself

As said, upgrading the dish will not result in better signal. However, if you think your getting bad signal then post your signal strength. It might be something as simple as a realignment.
To get to signal strength:
Menu
Setup
System setup
Satellite
View SS
