Moving a Simulsat is NOT an everyday experience.
I participated in removing one from the Commerce Casino east of Los Angeles, and reinstalling at UCLA, over 15 years ago.
A massive amount of cement is required to properly install one of these beasts, and we waited several weeks for it to cure before setting up in the new location. The first crane that attempted to lift the antenna failed, requiring a new machine to be dispatched.
Very skilled operators are needed to transport and properly re-deploy the Simulsat antenna into a new location. Even though the casino donated the antenna to the university, many thousands of dollars were spent in transport and re-installation.
Trickier yet is extracting great performance from a used antenna
of this size. Lots of trial and error, and acceptance of its limitations.
While meant to replace a number of multiple C-band antennas in one location, you would certainly get better performance with a properly tuned, brand new motorized 12-foot solid antenna.
