The New England/Boston area sports is just out of hand!! The Red Sox win the World Series, the Patriots one of the....if not THE best chance to go to the Super Bowl....the Eagles of Boston College are ranked #2 in the country.....and the Boston Celtics are loaded and could be in the "beast of the East".....

WOW!!

I cannot remember a time when a city had just about ALL of their sports teams at the brink of winning a championship at every single sport...!

IF someone can come up with a city that had a better year...I would like to know who?

Don't forget Robert Kraft's other team the New England Revolution has a Conference final this Thursday, hopefully the 4th time will be the charm if they make finals.

PS
1986 Redsox, Patriots, and Celtics all made final, but Celtics were the only ones that won, Pats got spanked, and we all know what happen to the Sox.

Jan '69, the Jets win the Super Bowl; Oct '69, the Mets win the World Series; May '70, the Knicks win the NBA Championship. Not bad in such a short timespan.

Yup, and they continue to pay , to this day for that streak :)

None of the teams you just listed have actually done much since then ... at least receintly.

1979 the Steelers won the SuperBowl and the Pirates won the World series. Pitt won the Eastern football title in 1979, and went to the Fiesta Bowl.

Didn't think of the Revolution.

I was thinking about this the other day myself. Boston has become a power house in sports this last decade.

The same could be said about Detroit with the Pistons and Red Wings the last five years, and then last year the Tigers went to the World Series. I guess you could throw Michigan with its football team in there too. Ann Arbor is only 30 miles outside of Detroit. Technically the Pistons play in Auburn Hills which is 30 miles north of Detroit.

And maybe now the Lions have joined in on the fun. It's a good time to be a Detroit sports fan!

Go Red Wings, Lions, Pistons, Tigers, and ......
GO BLUE!!!!

Last year the Tigers, Red Wings and Pistons all made it to at least the conference finals ..... Does that count .... Lions did not, but 3 out of 4 ain't bad.

Well the Bruins have not had much success of late so no region is perfect I guess.

Of course, both the Sox and Patriots had to become the Yankees for it to happen... interesting how they don't seem to mind that now, isn't it?
:)

An argumenttcan certainly be made that the Sox had to become the Yankees. but in football with salary caps etc it is hard to do that. The Pats have become very good but the Colts for one are not slouches and the Steelers were pretty goof fora year or two as well.

Normally, you're right - but the Patriots did make several Yankee-like moves this past offseason - Thomas, Moss, Welker, just to name a few. And Seau and a few others before that. The only difference is that it's actually working for the Patriots - the Yankees haven't had such luck lately.

I understand what you're saying, though - they can't just outspend everyone to get what they want like you can in baseball. But it's still a contrast compared to how the Colts and others (and even the Pats before this year) have built their teams.

Hooray!!! Steriod ape will skip HOF induction!!!!!!!!!
