It is a direct connection to your recorded playlist on your DVR. You can control and watch any recorded show from you DVR on your PC with the software. You just need a LAN line from your PC and your DVR to a router and the DirecTV2PC software downloaded on your PC.

You'll need a fairly newer system, good graphics card helps.
If you have a powerful system with great graphics, the new beta version (posted in our Tech Discussion forum) utilizes the graphics processing instead of mostly CPU like the version on Directv's website.
It is free, but still a bit buggy and faces significant hardware limitations, meaning you need a good computer.
