What is a good external HDD to buy?

I know there's an official thread, but its *really* long (so I apologize). Can anyone recommend a good HDD to get for my 722? I'm looking for around 500GB, and the cheaper the better.

Seagate makes good drives and Maxtor is not bad anyway check Newegg out great place to buy from. That where I buy all of my PC stuff from so happy shopping!

This is the one I got from recommendation of KAB on here. They are currently out of stock but you could buy the enclosure and drive separately and put it together yourself. It's very easy.

After reading recommendations on this site, I recently bought a "Seagate 500GB FreeAgent USB 2.0 7200RPM External Hard Drive" from Buy.com for $123.49, which included free shipping.

So far, everything is working well. I have recorded many children's movies on my 622 and archived them to the Seagate, in anticipation of the arrival of the grandchildren at Christmas.

I also put a couple of Seagate SATA drives in my computer 1.5 years ago, and they have been great. So I would recommend that you at least consider getting a Seagate drive for your 722.

I have a LaCie by Porsche, it has a Samsung 500gb with 16mb cache. This works fine, but I did have a problem when I first installed it, that was that I didn't push the power cable into the back of the drive hard enough, it is a very tight fit.
