COOLSAT 5000 PLATINUM FTA SATELLITE RECEIVER.

Is this Fta a good choice. Input please or is the Coolsat

4000 Pro a better choice. advice on any fta receiver

I'm looking into that also. Are the PVR enabled models few in number right now? Is the PVR stuff like Tivo?

Either of the Coolsats are great. Go for the 5000 if you want to use component video. I much prefer the Coolsat interface over the Pansat one. Some people like the way the Pansats do things.

PVR is not the same as Tivo. A PVR is like a VCR with timeshifting benefits. The software / intelligent guide is what differentiates a Tivo from a 'regular' PVR / DVR. the lack of a customizable guide on the Tivo is what makes a Tivo kind of a waste for use with FTA .
