What external hard drive?

Hi

I hope this will be my last question for a while.

I decided to get an external hard drive and stop losing all my recordings every time the Dish box goes bad.

I know that they recommend the The Western Digital 1TB hard drive.
Can I use a larger hard drive then that?

Good or bad idea to go to 2 TB?

Doesn't anyone have any advice about what hard drive is best for this application?

I tried a 3TB Seagate on my 612 and it was not recognized.

I have the 2tb drive on my living room Hopper. Works but keeps dropping off and I have to disconnect/reconnect for it to be seen. A 750 gb Seagate on my office Hopper and it never drops off.

Walmart has a 500GB Toshiba Canvio hard drive for $59.99. USB powred, but even with a sling plugged in, still works fine.

I would recommend to at least get a powered USB hub, just to be on the safe side.
