There are some very good deals right now on 4K Roku ready tvs. What equipment or dish changes would I have to make if I purchased one ?

Can this be done On Line or on CHAT ?yep an new dish is required along the New RB LNB and an HR54 Receiver and C61k Client along with 4k being displayed on the Client on the secondary High definition Television to Utilize the 4K programming and you have to call at&t to turn the 4k programming on.
A new dish isn't needed if you have a Slimline dish. You will need the reverse band lnb eventually, but the few 4k channels in use now are accessible with the standard ka/ku lnbs. You do need an HR54 or HS17 Genie and a C61k client along with a 4k television.yep an new dish is required along the New RB LNB and an HR54 Receiver and C61k Client along with 4k being displayed on the Client on the secondary High definition Television to Utilize the 4K programming and you have to call at&t to turn the 4k programming on.
Just hooked up my HR54 Genie and was disappointed that it didn't do 4K. Of course they suggest the 61K for a client receiver, but of course, it's another $7.00 on the bill. You would think that Directv would wave that charge, because it's a client for running 4K programming. For now I'm thinking about it, but not too happy.

Regardless of which Genie you have, the HR54 or the HS17, you need the C61k client to render 4k, or you can use the RVU in the tv. The Genies don't display 4k by themselves.
I agree, but that's not how they do it.I'm using a 49" TCL for 4K. I don't think that it does RVU. My issue was the continuing $7 per tuner. It gets expensive, if you add a few. Since the HR54 allows reception of the 4K, but does not allow you to use it, DTV should allow one free mini, if you want 4K for your main set.

I'm surprised with the access you have here that you didn't already know about the charges, and what it took to get the 4k, this has been this way since it came out.I'm using a 49" TCL for 4K. I too worry about this happening. I just took my H24 out of service to add the H54. I want to add a C61K, but sick of getting dinged for $7 for each extra mini. Directv should allow one free 4K mini, since the main unit doesn't do 4K. I have 1 4K TV and 3 1080P, so I only use two DTV receivers and use C Band and OTA on the other two TV's.
$7 is cheap. some charge more
i piad $12 per 622 when i was with dish
if you only have a single tv then yeah, its a pain
