what does the "window" button do?

i press it but nothing happens....what is its purpose, do u need to activate it like you do the 30 second skip feature?

As you've discovered, it doesn't do anything, nor can you make it do anything.

I would assume it was designed to help support Picture-in-Picture, but that's never been developed.

On my HR10-250 it changes the view from "full" to "panel". Meaning sidebars or stretched.

If you look in the dvr manual on the first page with all the button lables, its says for later use or something like that. It was going to be used for advertising windows when you pause your shows. Tivo was told about this several years back but still hasent taken effect.
