I have a chance to get a deal on a 921. I do not have HDTV yet and won't for a while but the large HD is an attraction as is the OTA capablities. If I do not sub to HD programming and replace my 721 with the 921 what will it cost me a month with top 120 or top 180?

Would you like to explain that?
Can't be THAT bad??

Dont; count on that, do a search. I am on my third 921 in 5 months. This one finally works decent, but it occasionally missies timers, bogs down and becoems unresponsive. A find that I am rebooting it about once a wekk, compare that to my 501 which maybe was rebooted 1-2 times a year if even that! If it were not for the Voom channles I would be on Comcast right now. Te 921 is by far the most quirky and unreliable pices of electronics I have ever owned! It is a constant love-hate relationship and Dish tech support sucks, their answer is reboot it, if problem is gone for now then fine.

These are made by JVC correct? Is the 821 and the new 942 made by JVC also?
One would think after 2 years (I think that's correct) since this came out the 'bugs' would be long gone.
Any one else chime in here.............

The bugs are in software, and it seems Dish must not be hiringthe brightest programmers and/or their QA sucks. Couple that with the fact that tech support could care less, just reboot box and if problem is gone they don't even want to log it and you see why bugs take forever to get fixed. If cars were done like this we would have instant population control as people would be crashing every day.

Dish Network wants me to go to DirectTV or Cable

942 DVR not seeing all episodes
