I'm trying to install a 510 receiver with a Dish 500 DP twin lnb. The bare dish was new, the lnb I think was used. Purchased for 40.00 from a dealer. The install is at a campground but on a seasonal site. A=204 E=34 S=109. For zip 55329. I can't for the life of me find 110. I'm locked on 119 at 108 signal strength. I have made sure I'm really on the 119 side of the lnb. Just never had even a little blip of a signal for 110 no matter how much adjusting I do. When running a check switch, it shows conn X on input 2, 119 shows up on input 1. After finding 119 and locking, the final check switch says "Warning, only one Satellite connected. Is it possible to have a bad lnb with it showing conn? Should I not have atleast some signal if I'm locked on to 119? Sorry for the long post. :confused:Any help will be greatly appreciated, I really would like my local channels.

Always possible to have a bad LNB.. Not usually the most likely culprit though. LOS and cableing are top culprits..

Have you made sure that the pole or tripod is completely plum. Settings are useless on a crooked pole. Skew is critical to get both satellites.. If you are sure the skew is set correctly and the pole is plum then start looking for other problems. Cableing, LNB, or bad receiver can give the same problems.

Yes, the mount is level. Took my time to get that right. I only have a 25 foot piece of RG6 hooked to receiver for locating purposes. Could that be bad? Works for one signal but not the other? LOS is a possible. But, if I can find 119 and the skew is set correct, shouldn't I see some signal from the 110? The 510 worked fine at home before upgrading to HD.

Try moving your dish about 10 degrees left and up 2-3 degrees.

You may have 119 on the 110 lnb.

You can also try covering the 119 lnb with tin foil and try to find 110 or 119 on the 110 lnb. That might indicate the "health" of the 110 lnb.

On a Dish 500, the 110 is almost right down the center of the boom. The 119 will be off to the right and low if you are standing behind the dish. When you run a switch test and it puts the 119 in the number one position then you are aimed right.. If it puts the 119 in the second position and puts an X in the first position then you need to move the dish to the left and up a little as described in the above post.. All this is if you are standing behind the dish looking over it.. If you have the 119 in the first position and an X in the second position then you need to look at skew, Pole level, and then start looking at cable or a bad LNB. If you know the receiver works at another location then you can forget that as an issue.. Look down the boom and see if there is anything straight out in front that could be blocking view of the 110.. Not likely since the 110 is higher up, but I have seen places where I could get 119 or 110 but not both without a two dish soloution. This isn't rocket science. It can usually be narrowed down to just one problem. Not often you have multiple failures.. (it can happen though)..
