The Boilermaker State (#19)
The greatest left fielders in Boston Red Sox history are Heinie Manush, Ted Williams, Carl Yazstremski and Jim Rice. For Manny Ramirez to be even remotely compared to them is an embarassment to the game.

And so was Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle....as far as on and off field behavior....:rolleyes: Love 'em or hate 'em, Manny is STILL one of the BEST hitters in the modern era.

Agree on Manny

I agree he is a great player. look at how he played those bounces off the wall last night.

This should be an interesting series.

Boston:

is one of the most resilient playoff teams in the history of the game;

has Beckett, one of the most playoff dominant pitchers the game has seen, who already has a World Series MVP to go with his ALCS MVP (the guy is just brilliant--remember, too, his brilliant 2 hitter in the Marlins-Cubs game 5 to save the Marlins season in 2003) available for 3 games;

and experience from 2004.

Colorado:

is scorching hot,winning 20 of 21games;

has the best ERA in the majors since the All Star Game;

they needed (and got) 3 runs off Trevor Hoffman (the all time saves leader) to win the play in game.

This series will be interesting if nothing else.
Temps will be in the 30-40's possible snow
Boston will also be cold in late October (cold for baseball that is).

I agree that he is a great player, it's his attitude and disrespect for the game that I don't like. He reminds me of Juan Pablo Montoya when he first came to Indianapolis. He had no respect for the Speedway or it's history. But he did produce and that's what counts. As he has gotten older he realizes what he accomplished back in 2000. As for Manny, I would love to have seen him do his home run thing at home plate after he hit one off of Bob Gibson or Don Drysdale. Those two would have gave him an attitude adjustment real quick.

Anyway, I just don't like the guy.

I don't like him either, but truth be told, there have been ALOT of players that showed a lack of respect to the game...I would not be surprised if there were alot in the Hall of Fame.

As for Manny :
He is a great hitter, but there are alot of them.
Overall, I would not put him anywhere near a list of GREAT players.

And I like him :), he's a little off, but he's fun to watch .
