Well, I found a new(ish) Autohop feature!'

I know the feature has been around for a few releases, but I thought I'd post it now that I have time.
Some programming agreements (NBC, etc.) allow Autohop to be used from the next day. But some require up to a week to 10 days before the program is listed as autohop available.

But try this if it's not Autohop enabled yet.
Start it and wait until the first commercial break, then press skip 30 multiple times without stopping. Guess what? At the start of the next segment, the bunny appears at the bottom right corner, and the forwarding stops. The show then starts at the next segment.

It's not exactly an "Auto" hop but more like a "Manual skip to the next segment." So, if you just want the next segment, there's no need to hunt for it. Just keep hitting skip forward, and it will stop.

I think I accidently did this once but I had no idea what I had done so couldn't replicate it.

I do not understand your exact button presses, exactly which button on which remote are you pressing and exactly how many times do you press it to initiate the commercial skip effect?
Do you press the skip forward 3 0 sequence multiple times (if so how many), or are you pressing the skip forward button 30 times?

Yes, press the 30 second skip multiple times until you see the red icon displayed in the lower right corner of the screen.
