Weird Dish on Ebay.

I found a dish on ebay that is 18" across new in the box. Its like a pizza dish sized dish. Anyway it says primestar on the box? I heard in the last years of primestar they were planning on going all digital with a 18" dish could this be it?

In the end, they were converted to DirecTv, so this must be from that time period.

It's the same dish directv uses just a different logo .till this day there's still customers that use the same exact dish to receive dtv programming.

It's not worth much,

Saw one of them at Radio Shack before Primestar was bought by DirecTV.

They owned the current DirecTV transponders at 119 and were going to lanch a high powered dbs service like DirecTV, It NEVER happened.

Ir's a standard DirecTV or Legacy Dish Network dish with circular polaralization. Older Primestar dishes had linear polarization.


It's basically a single lnb 18 inch round dish.

probably the same technical specs as an old directv dish but in the picture that one looks like the molded plastic kind instead of metal.

yep. 8 channels...pretty much a few network stations

edit: found a scan of an old satellite magazine. This was posted from the C-band area a while back

K-1 on 85W had Primestar

I probably still have some sat weeklys from the 80s-90s
I think it was NPS that gave you a sub to the guide when you subbed with them
Ahhh the good ole days when everyone wanted your business.

I remember Primestar when they were Digicipher I. Back in the day when I had my 10 footer.

I'd be curious to know if that dish followed Primestar's cool little elevation screw feature on their older dishes.
